The first Horizon solar folding roof product which use eArc made by SUNMAN has been installed over a parking area in Switzerland.
The 420 kW generation capacity, 4,000 square meter roof covers 152 parking bays at the Jakobsbad-Kronberg cable car in Appenzellerland. The roof required 13 months to install, following 2.5 years in the planning system.
“The folding sunroof is lightweight because we use glass-free solar module technology,” said the representative. “The installation is simple and is based on the plug-and-play approach.”
Sunman developed eArc - the world's first glassless solar module. This new generation of lightweight, thin and flexible modules are an innovation combining proven crystalline silicon solar cells with Sunman's patented composite material. This composite material has the durability and robustness of glass, without any of the weight. The weight of eArc modules can reach 2.8 kg/m2 - only 30% of the weight of glass modules, leading to a significant reduction in transportation costs. In addition, eArc modules can be customized in shape and size, making it compatible with a wide range of surfaces that glass modules cannot service.
